Since opening in October of 1998 with just six employees, msg’s location in Passau now boasts more than 600 employees. As the city's second-largest employer in the private sector and the largest software provider in Lower Bavaria, we are able to offer our employees job security and the benefits of “large mid-sized company”. At the same time, we enjoy a relaxed environment throughout our team and the “Spirit of Passau”.
The location in Passau focuses on product and project development in the following industries: Insurance, Food, Banking and Public Sector, with developments carried out by the following companies of the msg group: msg systems ag, msg services ag, msg nexinsure ag, conplan and msg GillardonBSM AG. In addition, many of our central divisions, such as administration & finance are also located out of our Passau location.
We advise many renowned customers, including Munich Re, Hannover Re and Gen Re, finnova AG (Switzerland), LVM (Münster), the Bavarian Association of Health Insurance Doctors (KVB), Deutsche Milchkontor GmbH (DMK), Emmi AG and more.
In Passau, innovative solutions are not (only) created in front of a PC, but within the context of constant (often remote) teamwork and using modern drafting methods such as Scrum and Kanban for example. Vocational training at msg | Passau
The topic of vocational training plays a major role for us. Here at our Passau location, we have been successfully offering vocational training since 1999 and a modern vocational training concept is very important to us – both for business and IT professions. We collaborate with a number of vocational schools. In addition, we also maintain a close cooperation with the University of Passau and even operate our own software lab at the Deggendorf Institute of Technology (THD).

Our offices are comfortable and offer a pleasant work environment. In mid-2020, we transformed many of our spaces into a modern work environment with more changes currently underway. We will be moving to our newly constructed office building in December 2022. The move will represent a new milestone in modern work - for the entire msg group. In doing so, we are currently and will continue in the future to offer our employees modern, remote work options.
A large training and conference room is available for internal and external meetings. The in-house bistro offers a wide variety of options at lunch and the employee kitchen can be used to make your own snacks and meals.
You can also find us taking a break at the foosball table or throwing darts in the break room. Then there is our rooftop terrace with its spectacular view of the city, which we use in summer to grill and also for division and team events.

Top IT infrastructure thanks to our IT service lounge & IT accessory vending machine
In March 2018, we opened our modern and attractive service zone, the IT Service Lounge, to our employees. The lounge gives all colleagues access to first-rate, personal support from Corporate IT as well as the ability to test out new IT hardware.
Furthermore, the IT accessory vending machine in the service area means the “long” wait times for an IT accessory order to arrive is now a thing of the past. The vending machine provides fast and easy access to IT accessories, such as keyboards, headphones and charging cables.

Work & live where others merely vacation
What we in Passau really appreciate is the relaxed work environment, the collegial team spirit and the many activities outside of work such as the msg soccer team, the msg running group and rock climbing. We host a traditional family event in the summer and the Christmas party in December helps us close out the year with good cheer.
Our office building is not far from the confluence of the three rivers, the Danube, Inn and Ilz, and is located near the city center, train station and bus station making getting around easy. Passau is also a university town and is considered a cultural center with a 2,000 year-old history.
The city is an international hub in the border triangle of Germany, Czech Republic and Austria and is well-connected to the major business centers in Europe. The University of Passau advertises with “Study where others vacation!”, so it is not a big stretch for us to say, “Work, where others vacation!”
