What is your primary job?

As a division manager, I am currently in charge of four departments within the Corporate IT division. My role is to make sure all our 9,000 plus users across the msg group have access to IT services. Within that context, I am responsible for IT operations (with a focus on workplace services), IT procurement, the IT Service Desk and second-level support, as well as field support in Germany and Romania. In addition, I am also involved in client logistics, including leasing and the operation of our service center for all non-IT topics within the msg group.

Why do you enjoy working at msg?

The most important factor is the ability to change and continuously enhance things. Even if msg already has more than 9,000 employees around the globe and there are rules and processes in place, everyone still has the chance to introduce new topics. Many of them are implemented as well. There is nothing more motivating than being able to actively implement your team’s or your own ideas.

Which podcasts come to mind that you currently subscribe to?

I have two favorite podcasts at the moment. The first deals with modern science: “Methodisch inkorrekt!” meaning, “methodically wrong” – they aim to communicate scientific topics in a relaxed, conversational manner, making them both accessible and entertaining. The podcast, whose episodes are each three hours long, not only addresses new scientific publications, but the day-to-day activities of a researcher. My second tip is “Logbuch:Netzpolitik”, meaning “Logbook:Network Policy” takes a more in depth look at IT. In their weekly episodes, the two moderators take a look at network policy events in the German-speaking and European domains from the perspective of two hackers and computer freaks with a love of technology, culture and freedom.
