Jérôme Gerber (Management Consultant)

What are your core responsibilities, Jérôme?

Within the context of customer projects, I am primarily involved in the analysis and optimization of structural and process organization. As part of that, organization assessments generally have three main points: task reviews, business process analysis and optimization, and personnel requirement assessments.

The BMI / BVA’s handbook on organizational analysis and personnel requirement assessments (original title: Handbuch für Organisationsuntersuchungen und Personalbedarfsermittlung) is definitely a handy tool here as are process modeling tools.

In your opinion, what does a business consultant need to bring to the table?

Besides the usual conventional, method-based and professional competences and industry-specific know-how, soft skills are incredibly important. Customer centricity, empathy, assertiveness, the ability to express oneself well, the ability to work as a team, active listening and intercultural competence are just a few of the key properties and skills every business consultant should have.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

As a child, I was a huge fan of dinosaurs and so I wanted to be a paleontologist.
